Very dear Narad

We'll be very happy to collaborate on the wonderful work you are doing for the Lexicon. I'm going to print out the list and circulate it amongst the group. Recently I came across a line I thought I must point out to you

"Life cast its seed in the body's indolent mould" - (Book 2, canto 4, halfway down the second page ... I don't have the book with me just now to give the page no.)

'Mould' here is interesting. Sri Aurobindo often speaks of the body as a mould for the Spirit or Consciousness, in the sense of a mould for a candle or a bronze casting; but here perhaps we can think of the old Anglo Saxon word, from a completely different root, meaning soil, earth, humus. This word has given 'mouldiwarp' = a mole.Life is like a farmer casting seed onto the earth. The classes I have with people from other linguistic backgrounds bring to light these unexpected riches sometimes.

I recently got a look at your wonderful Savitri Website ... it is so beautiful, with true atsmosphere. Heartfelt congratulations and thanks! I noticed only one misprint ... in the quote from Prof. Piper, Sri Aurobindo is described as one of India's greatest 'thinks", instead of "thinkers" ... probably others have already pointed out this little slip. I"ve asked Franz to forward to you files of Invocation 9 (Nov.) and 10 (Feb.) ... as I saw that it is no. 8 you have on the site. Giving back issues may not be so simple, but I'll see what we can do. Did you receive hard copies of all of them? I sent of a couple to you last year, but sometimes things come back without address labels. Now we're taking steps to change that and I hope this time everything gets through OK.

Yesterday we had Dr. Nadkarni's big visit, along with 300 followers. Julian was there with his laptop to show your site. Unfortunately Nirod-da was not present, but I'm sure Julian will find a way to show it to him.

Although I must be one of the world's worst correspondents, I think often of you both with much love.

Praying for every blessing for you and for Mary Helen With a smile

Shraddhavan
